What a girl wants - review and bashing

It was a good movie... but there were a few things that I would like to yell and scream about... well... maybe not that drastic but I would like to discuss them calmly... *grin*

It starts off with Daphne serving dessert at a wedding and her mother singing on the stage... it immediately starts off with the "Daddy-Daughter dance" (very nice alliteration) and the storyling immediately picks up... she's sad... because she's never known her father and she knows she'll never get to do the "daddy-daughter dance" with him... when the pair (her & mother) get home they immediately start a very serious conversation about her father...and where he is... my question is... "How come it effects her now?" It is acted as if she always missed her father... and always wanted to know him and who he is... How come it's now that she runs away to find him? Why this day? Why not last week? Yesterday? Tomorrow? It doesn't make sense... it would be better with a bigger reason... a bang... something hits her... like she finds something of his in her room with her things... or she gets a letter from him... (although he doesn't know she exists)... or maybe she finds a locket with a picture of both her parents in it...

Anyway she runs away to England... I'm ignooring the fact that she's mean't to be 16 and underage probably... ignooring the fact that she probably had to get a passport and book a flight two weeks in advance... and i'm ignooring the fact that... from looking at her house... she probably doesn't have any money... back to the plot... she then finds a hotel... the grand hotel... it's like a pub with a roof... anyway... she goes inside and immediately we meet the love interest... Ian... anyway... he plays guitar and they hit it off straight away... too quickly if I might say so myself... they immediately find a shared interest in music... Ian is a singer and guitar player... and Daphne's mum is the same... they immediately start talking about stuff... If i was alone... in a strange country... in a dirty hotel with one toilet I wouldn't befriend the first guy I see... I would probably run... anyway they make friends too quickly... i think it needed at lease 2 more minutes of "getting to know you" time before she tells him her life story... and she does that too quickly too... she immediately starts telling him that her father is a famous Lord and stuff... If I was him I would think she was an attention seeker and not believe her...

There's nothing really wrong with this movie... oh well... so I've found some stuff to complain about... but I can complain about anything if I set my mind to it. I still think you should go see this movie... but only if you're female and under 17... any older and it's just weird... It's very much a chick flick... i think it could have been done much better... the beginning of the movie is very rushed so they could fit in all the accidents and stuff... and also I think the parents relationship with each other and the deception surrounding that could have been realized a little better... overall... i would give this movie a 8.5 outa 10.... and the comment "chick flick until the credits"...

Cya!
