Saturday, February 12 - Ionian Revolt Okay so let me try and get this straight...ARGH!!! Piesistratus had a son called Hippias who was ostrised to Ionia. Where was he sent from? Who is Piesistratus? Histaeus was the tyrant of Miletus. Histaeus was called to Susa by King Darius of Persia. Histaeus sent the message 'Revolt' to his son-in-law Aristagorus back in Miletus Aristagorus renounced his tyranny and went to Sparta and Athens in search of Aid. Athens sent 20 ships and Eretria sent 5 So then what happened? Why didn't Sparta send any ships? Did Aristagorus actually travel to these places? How long did it take him? What was Histaeus doing in Susa all that time? How did they end up burning Sardis? Where is Sardis? Who was in control of Sardis? What happened to the ships being wrecked?
